Dibrugarh Express Derailment: Explosion Sound Heard By Loco Pilot Moments Before Train Accident

The Indian Railways reported that the loco pilot of the Dibrugarh Express heard an explosion sound just before the train derailed near Gonda railway station in Uttar Pradesh. The incident, which occurred earlier today, has resulted in the deaths of four passengers and injuries to several others. Rescue operations are currently underway.

>At least eight out of the 12 coaches of the 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express train derailed in Pikaura, Gonda district, while it was traveling from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh in Assam. This derailment has disrupted traffic on the route, leading to the diversion of various trains, according to a Railways official.

Immediate Response and Relief Efforts

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to reach the accident site promptly. "CM Adityanath has instructed the officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and ensure proper treatment. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured," stated a post from the UP Chief Minister's Office on social media platform X.

A 40-member medical team along with 15 ambulances have been dispatched by the district administration for relief and rescue operations. The Railways have also issued helpline numbers for relatives of passengers to inquire about their loved ones:

"Received sad news about the death of many people after few coaches derailed in Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in Gonda district," posted Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on X in Hindi. "I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured and a place to the departed souls in his feet," he added.

The Assam Chief Minister's Office confirmed that Himanta Biswa Sarma has been informed about the incident and is monitoring the situation closely.

The derailment has caused significant disruptions, affecting numerous passengers and their families. Authorities are working tirelessly to manage rescue efforts and provide necessary assistance.
