Dial D for Don: Ex-Delhi Police chief Neeraj Kumar reveals his conversations with Dawood Ibrahim

New Delhi, Nov 18: In a sensational revelation in his upcoming book to be launched, 'Dial D for Don', former Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has mentioned his conversations with India's most wanted underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim, who has been allegedly hiding in Pakistan.

According to media reports, Kumar has said that weeks before his retirement as Delhi police chief, Dawood had called him and told him to "stop chasing" him.

TOI quoted him as saying, "One day I received a call on my personal mobile in the last week of June 2013 from an 'unknown number'. It was in all probability the Don himself. He said: 'Kya, saheb, aap retire hone ja rahe ho. Ab to peechha chhod do.' (What is this, sir? You are about to retire. Isn't it time you left me alone?) The caller hung up before I could respond,"

His book "Dial D for Don', which will be released by Penguin books shortly, that gives a detailed account of 11 top operations of his career.

Kumar revealed that he talked to Dawood on June 10, 20 and 22 in 1994, when he tried to portray himself as an 'innocent'.

Dawood reportedly told him, "Saheb, iske pehle ki main kuchh bataoon, pehle aap batayiye ki aapko kya lagta hai ki maine Mumbai mein blast karwaye hain?' 'Saheb, mujhe yeh sab karna hota to mujhe hathiyar bhejne ki zaroorat nahi hoti. Hamare ladkon ke paas kaafi hathiyar pade hain."

Dawood has a secret son with a Bollywood actress: Kumar

In an another shocking revelation in his book, Kumar has mentioned that Dawood Ibrahim had married a Bollywood actress and has a secret son from the relationship. His secret son is reportedly being brought up by his actress mother's sister in Bengaluru.

Earlier also in May 2015, Kumar had said that the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, Dawood Ibrahim, wanted to surrender after the blasts.

"I spoke to a jittery Dawood three times in June 1994...He seemed to be toying with the idea of surrendering but had one worry - his rival gangs could finish him off if he returned to India. I told him his safety would be the responsibility of the CBI," he had said.

The then CBI DIG, Kumar, had also revealed that Dawood was afraid that rival gangs would kill him and thus, he wanted to surrender as he wanted an assurance from the CBI about his safety.

1976 batch IPS officer, Kumar was leading the CBI probe into the 13 serial blasts that rocked Mumbai on March 1 1993, leaving 257 people dead and more than 1000 injured.

Kumar had later took a U-turn saying "Dawood Ibrahim never wanted to surrender and CBI was never unwilling to assure his security."

Kumar retired as the Delhi Police commissioner in July 2013 and presently, he is serving as the chief adviser to BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).
