DGCA to Investigate Hydraulic Failure on AI Express Flight: Civil Aviation Ministry

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) plans to thoroughly inspect an Air India Express aircraft that experienced a hydraulic failure. This incident occurred during a flight from Trichy to Sharjah on Friday. The plane, with 141 passengers, encountered the issue shortly after take-off and circled Trichy for about two-and-a-half hours before safely landing at Trichy airport.

In response to the situation, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu stated that emergency protocols were activated promptly at 1805 hours. The flight successfully landed at 2015 hours. "The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been instructed to conduct a thorough examination of the aircraft to determine the exact cause of the hydraulic issue," Naidu mentioned.

Passenger Safety and Assistance

Minister Naidu also highlighted that Air India Express has been directed to assist passengers by arranging alternative travel options. He assured that all safety measures were adhered to by the crew, ensuring passenger safety during the emergency. "Following the hydraulic failure reported on Air India Express flight AXB 613 operating from Trichy to Sharjah with 141 people on board, we are relieved that the aircraft has landed safely at Trichy airport," he added.

The DGCA's investigation aims to uncover what led to the hydraulic malfunction. Meanwhile, Air India Express is expected to cooperate fully with authorities and provide necessary support for affected passengers. The swift response from airport and emergency teams played a crucial role in managing the situation effectively.
