Delhi On Yellow Alert: Moderate Rainfall, Thunderstorms Expected Today
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Friday following moderate rainfall that soaked several areas of the national capital and surrounding regions. The forecast indicates that Delhi-NCR will continue to receive light to moderate showers accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms over the next few hours.
According to IMD's alert system, a yellow alert implies the likelihood of moderate rain and advises the public to remain cautious. The warning also highlights potential waterlogging in low-lying areas due to continuous rainfall.

Rajasthan Receives Heavy Rain, Red Alert Issued
In Rajasthan, heavy downpours were recorded on Friday, leading to water accumulation in parts of Ajmer, Kota, and Pushkar. Kota's Sangod received the highest rainfall at 17 cm, followed by Pilibanga in Hanumangarh, which recorded 11 cm.
As a result, the IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Ajmer, Bhilwara, Bundi, Kota, Tonk, and Pali. An orange alert has also been issued for very heavy rainfall in Baran, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sirohi, Udaipur, and Nagaur.
Himachal Pradesh on Orange Alert
For Himachal Pradesh, the IMD has sounded an orange alert for July 21 and 23, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas. The intense rains have led to the closure of 250 roads across the state. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), the worst-hit region is Mandi, where 181 roads are shut, followed by 26 in Sirmaur and 23 in Kullu district.
Widespread Showers Predicted for MP, UP, and Uttarakhand
Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive widespread rainfall over the next few days, attributed to a depression over the northwestern part of the state and adjoining areas of southwest Uttar Pradesh.
The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall activity in various parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the coming days.
In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), the IMD stated:
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places with extremely heavy falls (≥21 cm) has been recorded at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh and East Uttar Pradesh."
