Shaheed Bhagat Singh College Cracks Down on Low Attendance, Denies Admit Cards to 100 Students
Shaheed Bhagat Singh College in New Delhi has taken a strict stance against low attendance, denying admit cards for exams to approximately 100 students who failed to meet the minimum attendance requirement of 40%. This marks the second time in a month that the college has barred students from appearing in exams due to poor attendance.
In a strict move to enforce attendance regulations, Delhi University's Shaheed Bhagat Singh College has denied admit cards for examinations to approximately 100 students who failed to meet the minimum attendance requirement of 40%. This marks the second instance within a month that the college has taken such action to ensure academic discipline.

Attendance Criteria and Affected Programs
According to the official notice issued by the college, students enrolled in the BA program and B.Com with less than 40% attendance in any semester have been denied admit cards. The college will release a separate notification for students with low attendance in the evening batch.
Adherence to University Norms
The college principal, Arun Kumar Attree, emphasized that these actions align with Delhi University's established norms, which mandate a minimum attendance criterion for students to be eligible for examinations. He expressed concern about the casual attitude of some students towards class attendance, particularly those who enroll while simultaneously preparing for competitive exams or pursuing other courses.
Exceptions and Submission of Undertakings
Recognizing the importance of extracurricular activities, the college will consider cases of students actively involved in sports or cultural activities as per university guidelines. Additionally, students with attendance between 40% and 66.66% have been instructed to submit an undertaking by December 12th, pledging to make up for the deficit attendance in the subsequent semester. Failure to submit the undertaking within the specified timeframe will result in the withholding of admit cards.
Supporting Documentation and Decision-Making
Students who were unable to meet the minimum attendance criteria due to extenuating circumstances are encouraged to submit supporting documents or relevant information to the college administration by 5 pm on December 12th. The college will then evaluate each case and make appropriate decisions based on the information provided.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh College's strict enforcement of attendance regulations aims to instill a sense of discipline and academic responsibility among its students. By adhering to university norms and providing opportunities for students to address attendance deficiencies, the college strives to maintain a high standard of education and ensure the academic success of its students.
