Delhi Turns Into Fortress Ahead Of Modi's Swearing-In Ceremony

As India prepares for the third consecutive oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9, the national capital has been turned into a fortress ensuring safety of all dignitaries attending the event.

Officials have informed that the Delhi Police has ensured multi-layered security arrangements, which includes deployment of five companies of paramilitary personnel to safeguard the Rashtrapati Bhavan, reported Times of India.

Other than the paramilitary forces, "NSG commandos, snipers, and drones will also guard the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the mega event."

The entire stretch of the area is being closely monitored via CCTV cameras to maintain vigilance.

With VVIPs from around the world expected to attend the event, the security arrangements have been tailor-made to fit the prerequisite protocol for each head of state. The hotels which will accommodate the dignitaries have also undergone enhanced security measures.

The area around Rashtrapati Bhavan has been assigned as 'controlled' area with extremely limited vehicular movements, restricted only to those possessing event passes on specific roads - Sansad Marg, Raisina Road, Rafi Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Rajendra Prasad Road, and Sardar Patel Marg. The swearing-in ceremony will be monitored by over 500 CCTVs. Notably, Section 144 has been imposed in the entire Capital.

Delhi has also been declared as a "no fly" zone till the duration of the event. The Delhi Police has also banned the use of sub-conventional aerial platforms like "para-motors, para gliders, hang-gliders, UASS, UAV, microlght aircraft, hot air balloon, remotely-piloted aircraft, quadcopters, small-sized powered aircraft, or para-jumping from aircraft etc." within the jurisdiction of NCT of Delhi.

The security beef-up comes in the wake of Narendra Modi's official appointment as Prime Minister by President Droupadi Murmu.

BJP fell short of numbers to form the government on its own as it got restricted to 240 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. However, the saffron party didn't waste time to dial its NDA allies and staked claim to form the government. TDP and JD(U) have emerged as 'kingmakers' in the Modi 3.0.
