Delhi School Assault: Class 8 Student Harmed by Peer, Protests Erupt
In a distressing incident from east Delhi, a 14-year-old boy was subjected to a brutal assault by his classmate within the confines of a private school, sparking widespread protests. The attack, which involved physical beating and the insertion of a wooden stick into the victim's private parts, occurred on April 2, as confirmed by the Delhi Police. The assailant, a minor, has since been detained and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board for further proceedings.

Deputy Commissioner of Police East, Apoorva Gupta, detailed that the altercation stemmed from a seemingly trivial matter of thumping the table during class, leading to a violent confrontation between the two students. The victim recounted to authorities how his masked assailant not only physically assaulted him but also issued threats of severe repercussions if he disclosed the incident to anyone.
Medical examinations corroborated the victim's account, revealing injuries consistent with the insertion of a foreign object. This revelation has intensified concerns over student safety and prompted demands for stringent action against those responsible. In response to the attack, family members and relatives of the aggrieved student organized demonstrations outside the educational institution on April 3, calling for justice and accountability.
Police investigations have unveiled that the initial scuffle was briefly resolved through a teacher's intervention, only for hostilities to resume later. Allegations have since emerged suggesting that additional students might have participated in the assault, expanding the scope of the inquiry. A formal case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, signaling the commencement of legal proceedings against the implicated individuals.
The incident has not only highlighted concerns regarding student safety in educational settings but also underscored the necessity for comprehensive measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. As investigations continue, authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and reinforcing safeguards to protect minors from violence and intimidation within academic institutions.
