Delhi Polls: AAP Candidate Jitender Shunty Files Nomination in PPE Kit to Highlight COVID-19 Relief Efforts
Jitender Singh Shunty, the Aam Aadmi Party's candidate for Shahdara, filed his nomination on Tuesday. He wore a PPE kit to highlight his role as a frontline worker during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shunty managed over 70,000 cremations during this time, earning him the titles of "ambulance man" and "corona warrior."

Before submitting his nomination, Shunty visited a cremation ground and covered himself with ashes. This act symbolised his dedication to those affected by the pandemic. As a Padma Shri awardee and social activist, he has consistently shown commitment to public welfare.
Focus on Shahdara's Development
Shunty addressed a rally where he pledged to improve Shahdara's infrastructure, healthcare, education, and employment. He promised to tackle these issues through legislation and community engagement. "We are here today to take a step forward in ensuring a brighter future for the people of Shahdara," he stated.
Raghav Chadha, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, joined Shunty at the rally. Chadha expressed confidence in Shunty's leadership abilities. "I am confident that under Jitender Shunty's leadership, Shahdara will see a transformation," Chadha remarked.
Political Landscape in Shahdara
The Congress has nominated Jagat Singh for the Shahdara seat. Meanwhile, the BJP has yet to announce its candidate for the constituency. The election in Delhi is scheduled for February 5, with results expected on February 8.
Shunty emphasised that with the support of the Aam Aadmi Party, they could bring much-needed change to Shahdara. His connection with the local community and his groundwork make him a strong contender for representing this area.
The upcoming elections will determine who will best address the needs of Shahdara's residents. Candidates are focusing on key issues like development and public welfare as they campaign for votes.
