Delhi Police Intercepts Vehicle Marked as Punjab Government Carrying Cash, Liquor, and AAP Pamphlets

Delhi Police have taken action after intercepting a vehicle marked as belonging to the Punjab government. The vehicle, stopped on Wednesday, was found with cash, liquor, and Aam Aadmi Party pamphlets, according to an official. It had a Punjab number plate and was caught by the Flying Squad team in New Delhi district.

Delhi Police Seizes Punjab Govt Vehicle with Cash

The Flying Squad is responsible for addressing violations of the Model Code of Conduct. They handle complaints related to threats, intimidation, and the movement of anti-social elements. They also deal with issues involving liquor, arms, ammunition, and large sums of cash intended to bribe voters.

Discovery and Legal Action

During the search of the vehicle, authorities found cash, several liquor bottles, and Aam Aadmi Party pamphlets inside. "Upon searching, we discovered cash, multiple liquor bottles, and Aam Aadmi Party pamphlets inside the vehicle," stated Delhi Police. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and a case has been registered at Tilak Marg police station.

Virendra Sachdeva, president of Delhi BJP, expressed his shock over the incident in a statement. He mentioned that Rs 10 lakh in cash, liquor, and AAP election material were recovered from a Punjab government car in Delhi.

Political Reactions

Sachdeva criticised Arvind Kejriwal's administration for allegedly institutionalising corruption within the Delhi government. He accused Kejriwal of polluting both the Yamuna River and Delhi's air. "Till now, we thought Arvind Kejriwal institutionalised corruption in Delhi government, polluted Yamuna and Delhis air but today we understand that he has polluted Delhis political system too," Sachdeva said.

Sachdeva further remarked that he could not recall any similar incident involving such a large amount of cash and liquor being recovered in his 35 years of public service. This incident has raised concerns about the integrity of political processes in the region.

The situation highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining fair electoral practices and addressing corruption allegations within political systems. The investigation is expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding this incident.
