Delhi Police Seeks Organ Transplant Details from Noida Amid Kidney Racket Probe

Delhi Police have requested documentation details from Noida's health department regarding organ transport, following the arrest of seven individuals linked to an illegal kidney transplant racket. The Crime Branch has also contacted the district chief medical officer's office for further information.

Probe into Noida Kidney Racket

Among those arrested is Dr. D Vijaya Rajakumari, a 50-year-old kidney transplant surgeon who worked on a fee-for-service basis at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in southeast Delhi. She allegedly performed around 15 transplant surgeries for Bangladeshi nationals between 2021 and 2023.

Crime Branch Investigation

The Crime Branch is delving deeper into the case, suspecting the involvement of additional medical staff or doctors. They have asked for details on the procedures followed by private hospitals in Noida for kidney and other organ transplants.

Dr. Rajakumari also conducted surgeries at Yathartha Hospital in Noida, where she served as a visiting consultant. The police arrested her along with her assistant, Vikram Singh, and three Bangladeshi nationals: Rasel, Mohammad Sumon Miyan, and Mohammad Rokon alias Rahul Sarkar alias Bijay Mondal.

Arrests and Operations

The arrests were made over a two-week operation by the Delhi Police Crime Branch. Acting on a tip-off, they apprehended the suspects, including Dr. Rajakumari, who was involved in the alleged kidney transplant racket spanning Bangladesh and the Delhi-NCR region.

An officer confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the racket. The authorities are particularly interested in understanding the documentation process for organ transport within Noida's healthcare system.

The police are scrutinising the role of other potential accomplices in this illegal activity. They aim to ensure that all individuals involved are brought to justice and that such practices are halted.

The investigation continues as authorities gather more information to piece together the full extent of this illegal operation. The focus remains on identifying all parties involved and preventing future occurrences.
