Delhi Education Minister Criticises AAP for Politicising School Disputes Before Board Exams

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood has accused the Aam Aadmi Party of politicising school-related disputes ahead of board exams, emphasising the government's commitment to student welfare and academic integrity.

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of politicising school-related issues just before board exams. He assured that the BJP government is dedicated to reducing student stress during this critical time. Sood addressed students and parents, emphasising that the city government considers every child in Delhi its responsibility, whether they attend government or private schools.

Sood highlighted a recent issue at Apeejay School involving student admit cards. He stated that the problem was resolved through official intervention and assured ongoing engagement with stakeholders to prevent similar occurrences. The minister stressed that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the education department are committed to supporting students and parents.

School Disputes and Political Accusations

Sood alleged that disputes between some schools and parents have been unresolved for years. He accused AAP of using these issues for political messaging instead of finding lasting solutions. According to him, recent actions were more about creating optics than addressing core problems.

Meanwhile, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticised the BJP government in Delhi. He claimed that a private school withheld student admit cards and alleged that party workers raising the issue were detained. In a post on X, Kejriwal accused the government of protecting private schools and suppressing voices advocating for students' rights.

Fee-Related Concerns

Sood reiterated the government's stance on fee-related matters, stating that coercive methods for fee recovery are unacceptable. He cited provisions of the Fee Act to support this position. Officials are in regular contact with school managements and parents to ensure students' education remains unaffected.

Earlier, AAP leaders, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, protested outside Apeejay School. They alleged an arbitrary fee hike and claimed that students' admit cards for board exams were withheld. However, there was no immediate response from the school regarding these allegations.

Government's Commitment to Students

As board exams approach, Sood urged students to focus on their studies. He assured them that the government would continue providing support to ensure a stress-free exam environment. The administration aims to protect students' academic interests and conduct exams without disruptions.

The Delhi government remains engaged with all stakeholders to resolve school-related disputes promptly. By maintaining open communication with schools and parents, they aim to prevent issues from escalating further.
