Chalo Delhi: Haryana Police, RAF Bomb Tear Gas Shells At Shambhu Border As Farmers Try To March Towards Delhi
After spending a week on roads of Punjab and Haryana's Shambhu border and four rounds of meetings with a delegation of the Central Government comprising Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Arjun Munda, and Nitya Nand Rai, hundreds of farmers tried to march towards Delhi, the national capital on Wednesday.
These farmers are demanding Minimum Support Price (MSP) according to the Swaminathan report, the scrapping of cases filed against farmers during the 2020-2021 protest, compensation to family members of people who died during the protest in Lakhimpur Khiri, and some other demands.

However, they were stopped by the Haryana Police, along with the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). To keep the agitators in behind the Haryana-Punjab's Shambhu Border, security personnel bombed tear gas shells in a large number.
The troops deployed by the Haryana Government have sealed the state border with iron nails, cement blocks, and fencing to stop these farmers from entering Haryana before they can move towards the national capital.
Earlier, the security personnel used pallet guns and bombed tear gas shells on farmers through drones, however, the farmers continued to stay on the roads.

Meanwhile, farmers also look ready enough to combat the tear gas and pallet gun attack as they are well-equipped with goggles and chest covers. Farmers have also brought JCB machines, tractors, bulldozers, and other heavy machines to drill and break concrete barriers.
Ahead of the Chalo Delhi march, farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal urged the government via media to give them a clear passage as they want to move forward peacefully. Farmers leaders said they are "ready to die in the interest of the nation."
"We are ready to die in the interest of our nation.. if any confrontation happens, those who had put up these barricades will be responsible.. those who brought in paramilitary, who fired tear gas and rubber bullets at us, they will be responsible for what is gonna happen today," said Sarwan Singh Pandher
With the ongoing chaos, the lives of people living in Delhi and adjoining areas have been disturbed as roads are jam-packed with traffic.
