Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM And AAP Convenor, Gets Bail In Delhi Liquor Policy Case Till June 1
The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the money laundering case related to an alleged liquor scam. The court granted him interim bail till June 1, 2024.
The Supreme Court added, "We should avoid establishing any common precedent. Whether he was arrested in March or at a different time is inconsequential. Now, a difference of 21 days here or there won't matter. Arvind Kejriwal will surrender on June 2."

During the hearing Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, requested interim bail until June 5, which the court rejected.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta urged the court to impose stringent conditions if interim bail were to be granted.
"Interim bail should be accompanied by strict conditions. He should refrain from discussing the case," Mehta asserted.

A two-judge bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta had reserved the order on Wednesday and had dropped a hint of giving relief to the AAP convenor.
"We will deliver the interim order (regarding interim bail) on Friday. The primary issue concerning the challenge to the arrest will also be addressed on the same day," the court had said.
However, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today presented a supplementary chargesheet in the court, that was not entertained by the bench.
According to the reports, the Supreme Court will now directly send orders to Tihar Jail and by the late evening, it is expected that Arvind Kejriwal will step out of Jail.
18 people have been arrested in the case including Delhi CM Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.
In its chargesheet, the ED leveled "non-cooperation in investigation" and being "vicariously" liable for the offence charges against AAP supremo.
In the last hearing on Wednesday, the Apex court reserved an order on the bail request as nothing has been proven against Arvind Kejriwal yet, and he wants to campaign for his party for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. It is his right and the court can not deny it, the top court said in the previous hearing adding that Kejriwal will not perform any Chief Ministerial duty.
Earlier, in the same case, the Supreme Court granted bail to AAP MP Sanjay Singh.
