Delhi LG VK Saxena Challenges Arvind Kejriwal's Misleading Claims on Shakur Basti Slum

Delhi LG VK Saxena has accused AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal of making false statements about the Shakur Basti slum. Saxena warned Kejriwal to stop or face action from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Earlier, Kejriwal visited the slum and accused the BJP of prioritising land acquisition over residents' welfare.

Delhi LG Refutes Kejriwal on Shakur Basti

Kejriwal alleged that the BJP aims to demolish slums after securing votes. "They want your votes first and your land after the elections," he told the residents. Saxena, however, countered these claims in a video statement, calling them completely false.

LG's Response to Kejriwal's Claims

The LG's office shared Saxena's video statement on social media, where he criticised Kejriwal for spreading misleading information about Shakur Basti. "Kejriwal is deliberately lying and misleading people. I urge him to stop making such statements otherwise DDA will take action against him," Saxena stated.

Kejriwal referred to a DDA meeting held on December 27 last year, claiming that Saxena had altered the land use of the slum area. However, Saxena clarified that no such changes have been made by the DDA.

Clarification on Land Use Changes

Saxena explained that the discussion during the December 27 meeting was about changing the land use of railway land from transportation to commercial purposes. He emphasised that this land is separate and does not have any slums on it.

The LG further stated that no decision has been made regarding changing the land use of even that railway land. He reiterated that Kejriwal's claims were unfounded and misleading.

This ongoing dispute highlights tensions between Delhi's political leaders over urban development issues. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to present conflicting narratives about the future of Shakur Basti.
