Delhi HC dismisses plea seeking to increase withdrawal limit for weddings
The court was hearing a petition filed by Birender Sangwan who had termed the existing government guidelines on wedding cap as 'arbitrary'.
New Delhi, Nov 30: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday rejected a petition which sought to increase the money limit to be withdrawn for marriages. As per the rules the current limit is at Rs 2.5 lakh.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Birender Sangwan who had termed the existing government guidelines on wedding cap as 'arbitrary'.

The petitioner had demanded that the rules be relaxed in view of customary donations given during the wedding.
Last week Court had reserved its order on the plea. "We cannot have an unmeasured and uncanalised situation. We have given exemptions. For wedding, if we will not put conditions, anybody can get a marriage card printed and go to the bank to withdraw Rs. 2.5 lakh,"Court said.
