Delhi Government's Commitment to Ensure Quality and Affordable Healthcare for Every Citizen
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the government's commitment to providing quality, affordable healthcare to all residents. The administration is swiftly building new hospitals and upgrading existing ones. Gupta stated that a healthy Delhi is essential for a developed city, aiming for government hospitals to surpass private ones in service delivery.

Gupta shared that 3,30,369 people have registered under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Additionally, 1,54,116 senior citizens have enrolled in the Vay Vandana Yojana. Efforts are underway to expedite registration for other eligible individuals.
Healthcare Schemes and Benefits
The chief minister explained that both schemes allow eligible beneficiaries to receive treatment worth up to Rs 10 lakh at empanelled hospitals. Currently, 83 hospitals in Delhi are registered under these schemes, including 59 private and 24 government facilities.
Patients needing treatment outside Delhi can access services at any empanelled hospital nationwide. Gupta highlighted that the registration process is entirely online, making it easy for eligible citizens to sign up through a dedicated portal.
Progress on Health Centres
Gupta noted that 729 citizens in Delhi have already benefited from these schemes. She also discussed the development of Arogya Mandirs in the capital. The government is establishing 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across Delhi.
Approximately 15 health centres are being built in each of Delhi's 70 assembly constituencies. These centres will offer free basic healthcare services to citizens. The construction is advancing quickly, with a focus on infrastructure, medical equipment installation, and staff recruitment.
Criticism of Previous Government
The chief minister criticised the previous administration for not implementing these crucial health schemes sooner. Gupta emphasised that valuable time was wasted by the earlier government, which delayed the benefits now being realised.
The government's initiatives aim to ensure every citizen has access to necessary healthcare services. By prioritising modernisation and accessibility, the administration seeks to improve overall health outcomes in Delhi.
