Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley chairs Pre-Budget meeting

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday chaired Pre-Budget meeting with Finance Ministers of all states and Union Territories.

The Union Budget, the last one during this tenure of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, will be presented on February 1.

The budget session will begin on January 29.

The fifth budget comes just a year ahead of the 17th general election.

Earlier on Dec 29th, Jaitley chaired the 18th meeting with financial sector regulators during as Pre-budget consultations. During the meet, they gave proposals for the Budget that is to be presented on February 1.

The meeting comes at a time when the government is dealing with fiscal pressures amid muted indirect tax collections and weak economic recovery.
