Delhi Family Of Five Found Dead, Police Investigating Suspected Suicide
In a tragic incident in southwest Delhi's Rangpuri Village, five family members, a father and his daughters, were discovered dead inside their apartment. The police, after a call about a foul smell emanating from the flat, entered the premises to find the devastating scene. The daughters, aged between 8 and 18, all of whom were physically disabled, were found alongside their father, indicating a grim suspicion of mass suicide through poison consumption.
The deceased's mother had passed away from cancer a few years prior, leaving the father, a carpenter by profession, to single-handedly care for their daughters. This family tragedy unfolded with no suicide note discovered at the scene, further mystifying the authorities about the motive. The family had resided in the building for eight years, with neighbours recalling no recent activities from the apartment since they last saw the family members on the evening of September 24, 2024.

The discovery was made on the morning of September 27, 2024, following a report from Nitin Chauhan, the building owner, who was alarmed by a strong, foul smell from the flat. Despite repeated attempts to elicit a response from the occupants, there was silence, prompting the intervention of the police and fire brigade. They forced entry into the apartment, which was bolted from the inside, to find the bodies distributed across two rooms.
A closer inspection of the scene revealed open packets of Celphos poison, glasses, and a spoon with a suspicious liquid, leading authorities to suspect a deliberate act of poisoning. The absence of visible injuries on the bodies and the meticulous arrangement of the poisonous substances hinted at a premeditated act. The police have seized samples of food and medicine wrappers from the apartment, alongside the bodies being sent for an autopsy to uncover the precise cause of death.
A crime and forensic team were summoned to the location to gather evidence and piece together the events leading to this tragedy. The local community, shocked by the incident, remembered the father's dedication to his daughters amidst their challenges.
