Delhi Designated CM Atishi To Get Z Category Security: Delhi Police

Atishi, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Delhi, will receive 'Z' category security, according to sources from Delhi Police. Currently, Arvind Kejriwal is under 'Z-Plus' security, which involves around 40 officers working in shifts. The security arrangements for Atishi will be finalised soon, as per protocol for Delhi's chief minister.

Delhi Police sources mentioned that Kejriwal's security will be reassessed following his resignation. The protocol dictates that the chief minister of Delhi is entitled to 'Z' category protection. This level of security typically involves about 22 personnel working in shifts to ensure safety.

Atishi's Rise to Leadership

Senior AAP leader Atishi is poised to become the next chief minister of Delhi after Arvind Kejriwal stepped down on Tuesday. This move is perceived as a strategic effort to gain momentum before the assembly elections scheduled in five months. Although Atishi was a leading candidate and had close ties with both Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, there was significant speculation about his successor.

Kejriwal ended the uncertainty by proposing Atishi's name during an AAP legislature party meeting, where it received unanimous approval. As a minister in Kejriwal's Cabinet, Atishi managed 14 portfolios, including finance, education, and revenue. She played a crucial role while Kejriwal was imprisoned.

Atishi has accused the central government's investigative agencies of falsely charging her mentor, Kejriwal. She believes he is being unfairly targeted by these authorities. Her leadership comes at a pivotal time for the party as they prepare for upcoming elections.
