Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal To Resign Tomorrow, New Chief Minister To Be Announced After PAC Meeting
The AAP Political Affairs Committee, the party's highest decision-making body, is scheduled to convene on Monday at 5 pm. The agenda includes deciding on the next Chief Minister of Delhi. Saurabh Bharadwaj, a Delhi Minister and AAP leader, announced that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will submit his resignation tomorrow.
Once Kejriwal's resignation is accepted, the legislative party will elect a new leader. This newly elected leader will then present their claim to the President through the Lieutenant Governor. Bharadwaj expressed confidence in this process, stating that the MLAs are united and that the chosen leader will be sworn in within a week.

Next Delhi Chief Minister
Kejriwal was released on bail from Tihar Jail last Friday in connection with the excise policy graft case. He had earlier mentioned that he would hold a meeting with AAP MLAs soon and that one of his party colleagues would take over as chief minister. This meeting is set to take place at the chief minister's official residence in the Civil Lines area.
He added, "The MLAs are with us. So obviously that person will be called and will take oath. I think this whole process should be completed within a week..."
Speculations Around Successor
Kejriwal's unexpected announcement has sparked speculation about his possible replacement. Names like his wife Sunita and ministers Atishi and Gopal Rai have been circulating as potential candidates for the chief minister position.
The term of the current Delhi Assembly ends on February 23 next year, with elections expected to be held in early February. Kejriwal framed his decision as an opportunity for voters to judge his administration's honesty and to allow for early polls accordingly.
In his announcement, Kejriwal emphasized that he would only return as chief minister if people give him a "certificate of honesty." This statement has added another layer of intrigue to an already complex political scenario.
The upcoming meeting and subsequent decisions are crucial for AAP as they navigate this transitional phase while maintaining unity among their MLAs.
