New Delhi, Oct 28: A 20-year-old man, who had eloped with a 17-year-old girl last month, was allegedly stabbed to death by two members of the girl's family, suspected to be juveniles, in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar area.

The incident took place yesterday evening and the victim, identified as Vijay Hindori, was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries today, police said.

Honour Killing

The two accused have been apprehended and the police are trying to figure out if more persons from the girl's family were involved in the crime, a police official said.

Vijay met the girl in school and they were in a relationship for the past three years. The girl's family was not happy with the relationship as they belonged to two different communities.

Things turned worse when the two eloped to a village in Haryana last month. A police case was also registered in connection with that, said an official.

Vijay's mother, however, convinced him to return and the girl was also sent to her family, who locked her in the house and warned her never to meet Vijay.

They allegedly used to beat the girl whenever they found out that the two had met, the official said. Yesterday evening, Vijay was caught by the girl's brothers when he went to meet the girl, without informing his family.

They chased him and allegedly stabbed him five times near his own residence. "When Vijay's mother rushed out of the house, the accused persons threatened her.

The family members of Vijay caught one of the accused and handed him over to the police. The police soon apprehended the other. Both have been booked for murder," police said.
