Definitely Not Congress' View: Jairam Ramesh Calls Sam Pitroda's Remark On China As Personal Statement

Hours after Sam Pitoda's controversial statement on China, Indian National Congress distanced itself from senior leader's comments terming as his own thoughts. Sam Pitroda, who is taking overseas in-charge for the grand old party, had said that threat posed by China is often overstated.

BJP was quick to highlight Sam Pitroda's statement and held Congress responsible for its leader's comment. However, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, in a post on X, clarified that Sam Pitroda's views do not align with the party's stance.

Sam Pitroda s Views Not Congress Stand

In an interview, Pitroda said, " he does not understand the threat from China that India is facing." He called it exaggeration, and added that it is the US that has a "tendency to define an enemy."

His remarks came after US President Donald Trump offered to mediate between India and China during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Washington. The Indian government declined Trump's offer.

BJP Responds to Congress Remarks

BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi attacked Congress recalling a past instance where Rahul Gandhi praised China's handling of unemployment during a foreign trip. However, he countered this by pointing out that China's employment rate stands at only 24 percent. The BJP viewed Pitroda's comments as undermining India's diplomatic efforts and sovereignty.
