Deep Fake: BJP Candidate Upendra Rawat Returns Lok Sabha Ticket After Obscene Video Goes Viral, Calls It Fake

Upendra Singh Rawat, who has been named by the BJP to contest Lok Sabha elections from Barabanki, on Monday announced not to contest Lok Sabha elections 2024. Sharing his statement over an obscene video, Upendra Singh Rawat said the video which is doing round the internet is fake and generated through artificial intelligence (AI). Taking it to Twitter, Rawat said, he has lodged a police complaint and seeks strict action against the culprits who did this. He added that he will not contest any elections till proven innocent.

"An edited video of mine is being circulated which is generated by DeepFake AI technology, for which I have filed an FIR. In this context, I have requested the Hon'ble National President to get it investigated. I will not contest any elections in public life until I am proven innocent," Upendra Singh Rawat said.

According to the reports, Upendra Singh Rawat's alleged fake video surfaced on the internet a day after BJP announced his candidature. It is said that AI-doctored video has been shared on the internet to tarnish Barabanki MP's image.

"I got the party's ticket from Barabanki, my opponents did this act", Upendra Singh Rawat said.

Earlier in 2019, the BJP had denied a ticket to then MP Priyanka Singh Rawat, and picked Upendra Singh Rawat as its candidate, and now when Upendra has returned the ticket, the BJP top brass has to select a new candidate.

A day ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had warned all its members to beware of deep fake videos and speak carefully when interacting with the public.
