Hindu Deaths and Temple Attacks in Bangladesh

The Indian government has expressed its concerns over these incidents to Bangladesh. During a visit on December 9, 2024, India's foreign secretary reiterated expectations for the protection of Hindus and other minorities. The High Commission of India in Dhaka is closely monitoring the situation concerning minorities.

Protection and Arrests

On December 10, 2024, Bangladesh's government announced that 70 individuals had been arrested in connection with 88 cases related to minority attacks. Police investigations confirmed 1,254 incidents. The responsibility for safeguarding all citizens, including minorities, lies with the Government of Bangladesh.

In response to another query, Singh mentioned that out of 127 Indian nationals in the Russian armed forces, services for 97 have been discontinued. Among the 12 reported deaths of Indian nationals, seven bodies have been returned to India. In two cases, cremations took place in Russia as per family wishes.

Ongoing Monitoring and Communication

The Indian government continues to communicate with Russian authorities to verify three remaining cases of reported deaths. The situation remains under close observation by relevant authorities to ensure accurate information and appropriate actions are taken.

The Indian government's engagement with Bangladesh reflects its commitment to addressing violence against minorities. By maintaining dialogue and monitoring developments, India aims to ensure the safety and security of affected communities.
