D K Ravi case: CBI officially starts probe

‎Bengaluru, Apr 16: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered an FIR with regard to the death of IAS officer D K Ravi. The FIR or preliminary enquiry enables the CBI to formally investigate the case.

A team of the CBI from the homicide wing in Chennai would be probing the case. The Karnataka state government had handed over the probe to the CBI after it came under immense pressure from the public and opposition.

D K Ravi was found dead in his apartment last month and the Bengaluru police had stated that it was a case of suicide due to personal reasons.

CBI to issue summons:

The CBI team which would come to Bengaluru would issue summons to several persons and question them. They would first formally take over the case papers from the CID which has been investigating the case till now.

Summons would be issued to several persons connected with the case. CBI officials say that the case has various angles to it and they would need time to complete the probe.

Under probe would be the personal and also professional angle. It has been alleged that Ravi had taken on several high and might both in the sand mafia and also real estate and this could be the reason for the death a section had alleged.
