Cyclone Biparjoy: Mumbai Airport Runway Shut Down, Flight Operations Hit
The adverse weather conditions caused by Cyclone Biparjoy have led to the temporary closure of a runway at Mumbai airport, resulting in delayed and canceled flights, Air India announced on Monday.
As Cyclone Biparjoy gains strength, Mumbai and other coastal areas of Maharashtra experienced heavy rain and strong winds throughout Sunday night.

The powerful winds not only affected air quality but also reduced visibility due to the presence of dust particles. According to a civic official quoted by news agency PTI, gusty winds caused trees to fall in certain parts of Mumbai.
Air India took to Twitter on Monday morning, wrote, "Due to inclement weather conditions and the temporary closure of Runway 09/27 at Mumbai airport, along with other factors beyond our control, some of our flights are experiencing delays and cancellations. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our passengers and are making every effort to minimize disruptions."
