CPI(Maoist) foundation week observed; Naxals reveal big plans
Raipur, Sept 25: Bastar in Chattisgarh is witnessing a resurgence of the naxal movement. A seizure of 1,750 kilograms of explosives today came hours after a constable was injured in a blast when he accidentally stepped on a pressure bomb that was planted by the naxals. Incidentally these two incidents have been reported at a time when the Maoists are observing the CPI(Maoist) foundation week.
The seizure of the explosives has been a major success for the police. 1,750 kilograms of explosives which included 750 kilograms of gelatine sticks has left the police shocked and it goes on to show the extent of the naxal network in the area.

The naxals have been holding a series of meetings and police suspect that they are planning on upping the ante. They are attempting to take on the security mechanism in the big way. Today Devraj Chopra of the COBRA Battalion 206 during a combing operation accidentally stepped on a pressure bomb as a result of which he was seriously injured.
In the raid that was conducted today, the police effected two seizures. In one seizure the police found 1,000 kilograms of explosives while in the other 750 kilograms were seized. Seven persons who were transporting the explosives have been arrested and are being probed.
Police officials informed that the investigations have prima facie revealed that the explosives were meant to be shifted into a camp of the naxals in the Bastar region. The police found that the explosives were being transported between Odisha and Bastar. The explosive materials seized comprised gelatine sticks and ammonium nitrate.
The police are keeping a close watch on the activities of the naxals in the Bastar region which incidentally has one their strongest bases. There are attempts being made by the naxals to create trouble during the Bihar elections and intelligence bureau alerts have advised the police to be on high alert.
Addition security forces are being deployed to ensure that the naxals do not raise their ugly head and disrupt the forthcoming Bihar polls.
