A court of inquiry has been instituted to probe the incident of a man allegedly being tied to a jeep and used as a human shield by the security forces in Kashmir.

The inquiry committee would be headed by a Colonel.

Man tied to a jeep in Kashmir

The issue came to light when former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah posted a video of a youth being tied to a jeep allegedly by security personnel to ensure that stones are not hurled at them on April 14.

Omar had alleged that security forces are using Kashmiri youths as human shield to protect themselves from stone pelters.

The Jammu and Kashmir police also filed a First Information Report against the Army, said reports.

The video, said to be shot on April 9, shows a young man sitting tied with a rope to the front of the jeep as it drove into a village.

The man was later identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Sitaharaan village in Khag tehsil of Budgam district in central Kashmir.
