Cops forced to sell tickets for Amruta Fadnavis' concert? Congress wants answers

Maharashtra Chief Minister's wife is a banker and a playback singer.

The Congress has sought answers over reports of Aurangabad police being forced to sell tickets of Amruta Fadnavis' concert. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' wife was the Goodwill Ambassador for 'Police Rajani', an entertainment programme held on Wednesday evening.

Reports suggested that the police were asked to sell 400 tickets- priced Rs 51,000 each for the program organised under the name 'Independence Day Live Charity Musical Concert' where Amruta was to perform. The program organised for the welfare of policemen by the Mahatma Gandhi Mission has been marred by controversy after the Congress sought an explanation.

PTI had earlier quoted a source from the Maharashtra police that cops were forced to sell tickets for the event. While the police have neither confirmed nor rejected the report officially, organisers are said to have told the media that the money raised through ticket sales were for police welfare.

Organisers held that Amruta was singing in a charity event, the proceeds of which will go towards scholarships for children of policemen, the welfare of families of farmers who committed suicide etc.

The Congress has decided to rake up the issue and has demanded a clarification from the police department on whether they were forced to sell tickets for Chief Minister's wife's concert.
