#CongressMurdersDemocracy: Party faces Twitterati's ire on 40th anniversary of Emergency

New Delhi, June 25: As India marks 40th anniversary of Emergency, imposed by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975, social media is abuzz with its reaction blaming the Congress for throwing an Independent nation into darkness.

Emergency, is referred to a 21-month period between 1975 and 1977 when Indira Gandhi had declared a state of emergency across the country to sort out the internal upheavals. This period was termed as the murder of democracy by Indira Gandhi as the fundamental rights of the every Indian were withdrawn.

Emergency: Cong faces Twitterati's ire

Remembering those days on its 40th anniversary, social media slammed the Congress leadership and Indira Gandhi for its act. Twitterati came up with #CongressMurdersDemocracy.
