Congress To Hold 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod' Rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan Today

The Congress is set to stage a large 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod' rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Sunday, aiming to intensify pressure on the government over alleged "vote chori" and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, according to senior party leaders.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi are scheduled to address the gathering, which party leaders describe as part of a wider nationwide push on electoral integrity. Senior leaders will first assemble at the Indira Bhawan headquarters and then travel together to Ramlila Maidan by bus.

Congress vote chori campaign and national mobilisation

Building up to the Delhi event, the Congress claims to have collected more than five crore signatures from across India, framed as support against alleged vote theft. Congress MP K C Venugopal said these signatures would be handed to the President of India, for which the party is seeking a formal appointment.

Venugopal linked the rally to earlier briefings by Rahul Gandhi that flagged alleged manipulation of voter lists and electronic voting machines. He alleged that irregularities benefited the BJP, and he claimed the Election Commission did not act on complaints from the Congress, while instead focusing scrutiny on the party itself.

Leaders at Ramlila Maidan and wider vote chori push

The Delhi rally is expected to see participation from several high-profile leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K C Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh and Sachin Pilot. Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi is also likely to attend, while Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy is among the chief ministers slated to join the programme.

Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel described the scale and intent of the event, saying, "Our party has organised the 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod' rally at Ramlila Maidan. The Congress party has taken a step towards a decisive battle, and a large number of people will attend this rally," according to ANI.

Regional build-up to Congress vote chori rally

The mobilisation has seen state units sending delegations to the capital. A party spokesperson said 1,027 Congress leaders and workers departed from Jammu on Saturday to attend the rally, raising slogans of "vote chore, gaddi chhore" and "Delhi chalo" as they moved towards Delhi, as reported by PTI.

Jharkhand Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh said the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee had carried out major preparations for the gathering. Kamlesh called the programme historic and said leaders, workers and representatives from many parts of Jharkhand had already reached Delhi in considerable numbers.
