Congress for FIR against Shah for his 'riots if it comes to power' remark

The Congress on Wednesday filed a police complaint in Bengaluru's High Grounds police station against Union Home Minister Amit Shah for making provocative statements, promoting enmity and hatred, and maligning opposition.

Congress leaders urged the police that an urgent and immediate FIR be lodged against Amit Shah and others for the offences.

"Action should be taken against Amit Shah according to law. If a common man had done it, the police would have arrested him already. The union home minister cannot say if Congress comes to power there will be communal riots," Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar said.

"For no reason, they have filed 20 cases against me. We have already filed a complaint with the Election Commission. After filing the complaint there, we came here," he added.

Addressing a rally in Belagavi, Shah claimed if the Congress comes to power in Karnataka, the state would be "afflicted by riots". Shah further said that the development of the state will be on the "reverse gear" if the Congress forms the government.

"Amit Shah tarnished Congress image by levelling false and unfounded allegations, with a clear objective of trying to create an atmosphere of communal disharmony amongst the gathered crowd and the individuals viewing it on other media platforms," the Congress said.

The Congress has claimed that Amit Shah's statement that Siddaramaiah, former Chief Minister, had released all PFI workers was a false false statement that can incite violence in the state.

More worryingly coming from the Union Home Minister himself, they said, was the statement that if the Indian National Congress won the upcoming elections, then the entire state of Karnataka would be "afflicted with communal riots".

    The Congress has filed a complaint against him under IPC sections 153, 153A, 171G, 505, 120B, 123.
