Surya not on BJP star campaigner list, Cong dubs him 'Naftari Chintu'

Tejasvi Surya, who has been in the news for slamming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's visit to the Nandini store is missing from the list of star campaigners for the BJP for the Karnataka assembly elections.

Tejasvi, an RSS Swayamsevak and the BJP's youth morcha president was however part of the star campaigner list in the recently concluded Tripura elections.

The BJP's list of star campaigners comprises the names of PM Modi, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Devendra Fadnavis, Smriti Irani, Nirmala Sitharamanamong others.

The Congress was however quick to react to the omission and referred to Tejasvi as a 'naftari Chintu.' The Congress said nobody cares for him even in his state and it is time for him to get down from his high horses. The prominent omission in the Congress' list of star campaigners is Sachin Pilot who had gone on a fast against his own government in Rajasthan.

Tejasvi Surya was recently in the news after he accidentally opened the emergency exit of an IndiGo aircraft for which the flight had been delayed. It was however clarified that the same was not deliberate. Tamil Nadu BJP chief, K Annamalai claimed that it was a glitch that Tejasvi had noticed, got fixed and then apologised to the passengers for the delay.

Tejasvi, a lawyer by profession was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019 at the age of 28. He represents the Bengaluru South constituency, which was held by Ananth Kumar, who had represented the seat from 1996 until his death in 2018.
