Congress' Rahul Gandhi Tore Ordinance In House In 2013, Insulted The Constitution: PM Modi
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the parliament on the completion of 75 years of Constitution. PM Modi attacked the Congress and shared an 2013's anecdote.
Criticizing the actions of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, PM said Rahul 'baba' tore up an ordinance that was designed to protect convicted lawmakers from being immediately disqualified. This ordinance had been approved by the cabinet led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Modi pointed out Gandhi's actions as an example of disrespect towards the constitutional process and the authority of the then Prime Minister.
He emphasized the arrogance displayed by Gandhi in undermining a significant cabinet decision publicly.

The Prime Minister's remarks were aimed at illustrating a pattern of disregard for constitutional authority within the Congress party. He underscored how an individual, not elected to a position of power, was given precedence over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh through the National Advisory Council.
This move, according to Modi, was a strategic attempt by the Congress to elevate another generation of its leadership, disregarding the established democratic and constitutional framework.
"They placed an unelected person on top of (former) prime minister Manmohan Singh using the National Advisory Council. To take one more generation forward, the new generation tore an ordinance in front of the media, which was cleared by the PM Manmohan Singh-led cabinet. An arrogant person tore the cabinet decision in front of the media and was forced to overturn the decision. I'm just telling you what happened to the Constitution," PM Modi said.
By bringing attention to these actions, Prime Minister Modi sought to question the Congress party's commitment to constitutional values and governance norms. His critique was not just of an individual's impulsive act but also of a broader attitude of entitlement and disregard for collective decision-making processes within the government.
This debate served as a platform for Modi to cast doubt on the opposition party's ability to uphold the principles of democracy and governance, using the incident as a case in point.
