Congress Leader Lodges Police Complaint Over Ramesh Bidhuri's Derogatory Remarks on Priyanka Gandhi
A group of women Congress members, led by a corporator, approached the police on Monday. They demanded an FIR against BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri for his offensive comments about Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Bidhuri's remarks, made before the Delhi Assembly elections, have caused significant backlash. The Congress claims his statement shows the BJP's anti-women sentiment.

Bidhuri faced criticism on Sunday for saying he would make roads in Kalkaji as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks. As the BJP candidate for Kalkaji in the Delhi Assembly polls, Bidhuri is a former Lok Sabha MP from South Delhi. Congress leader Mamta Chaudhary, representing Malviya Nagar Ward 21 in Lucknow Municipal Corporation, filed a formal complaint seeking legal action against him.
Congress Demands Legal Action
In her letter to the Bazar Khala Police Station officer-in-charge, Chaudhary stated that Bidhuri's comments were disrespectful and defamatory towards Priyanka Gandhi, a public figure. "I request that an FIR be registered against Ramesh Bidhuri for using offensive language towards a respected woman and tarnishing her image," she wrote in her complaint.
Chaudhary, who leads Congress corporators in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, said the remarks could be verified through public records like social media and press reports. When police delayed action citing an ongoing investigation, Chaudhary protested at the station, demanding accountability.
BJP's Response to Controversy
The BJP disapproved of Bidhuri's controversial remarks on Monday. The party stated that politicians should avoid comments related to gender or family. Following the uproar over his statements, Bidhuri expressed regret for his words.
The incident has highlighted tensions between political parties ahead of the elections. The Congress continues to push for accountability and legal action against Bidhuri for his derogatory remarks about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
