Congress leader Digvijaya slams Modi over UID for cows

Digvijaya Singh is known for his tweets to slam the ministers. He uses Twitter to reach out convey his point of view.

New Delhi, April 24: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurance of Aadhaar Card-like Unique Identification Number to cows and cattle in order to protect them and prevent them from smuggling across India-Bangladesh border, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh took to his Twitter handle and questioned the Centre.

In his series of tweets, the Congress leader asked "Modi ji ko kya ho gaya hai...abb gaay bhainson ka aadhaar card banaa rahe hain. Abb gaay bhainson ka aadhar card banega aur usko banaane ka kitna kharch aayega? Uska theka bhi shaayad 'gau rakshakon' ko milega?" (What has happened to Modi ji? Now Aadhaar Cards will be made for cows and cattle too. What will be the cost involved? And who will bear it?).

"Kya uske baad bhi Muslim pashu paalakon ki 'gau rakshakon' se suraksha ho paayegi?" (Will, after this, the Muslim animal keepers will be assured safety from the cow vigilantes?)

Recently, the Centre had told the apex court that it would come up with UID cards in which the details of the cow such as age, sex, breed lactation, height, body, colour, horn type, tail switch and special marks. It also has said that UID for cow and its progeny should be mandatory across the country.

The Centre had also said that active support should be sought from the public on the prohibition of smuggling of cows across Bangladesh border.

In its report to the Supreme Court, the Centre had said that toll-free numbers will be released for the people to give information on animals movements across the border.
