Congress in Karnataka calls its manifesto, ‘peaceful garden of all communities’

The Congress after making several promises in the run up to the elections released its manifesto on Tuesday. The manifesto was released by All India Congress Committee chief, Mallikarjun Kharge.

The Congress has named its manifesto as 'Sarva Janangada Shanthiya Thota' (Peaceful garden of all communities). Following the release, Kharge said that he is making the sixth guarantee with the release of this manifesto. The promises will be implemented in the first Cabinet meeting on the first day of the formation of the government.

In its manifesto it has equated the Popular Front of India with the Bajrang Dal, which is the youth wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. It promised to ban such organisations that promote enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities.

The party is committed to taking firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations spreading hatred among communities on grounds of caste or religion. We believe that the law and Constitution is sacrosanct and cannot be violated by individuals and organisations like Bajrang Dal, PFI or others promoting enmity of hatred, whether among the majority or minority community, the party said.

Further the Congress also promised that it would repeal within 1 year of coming to power, all unjust laws and other anti-people laws, which have been passed by the BJP government.

The results of the Karnataka elections will be out on May 13, while the state votes on May 10.

The Centre had banned the PFI in September last year under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. It also said that the outfit has the potential to disturb peace and communal harmony.
