Congress Government Led by Rahul Gandhi to End Decade of Pain in Haryana with Promises of Welfare and Employment
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, expressed confidence that the Congress will address Haryana's issues if elected. He stated that the party is committed to meeting the state's aspirations. This announcement came after the Haryana Congress unveiled its manifesto for the October 5 assembly elections, promising various initiatives like a farmer welfare commission and Rs 2 crore for families of martyred soldiers.

Congress Manifesto Highlights
The manifesto also includes plans to promote labour-intensive industries to boost employment and reconstitute the Haryana Minority Commission. Key figures such as Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Ashok Gehlot attended the launch event. Gandhi criticised the BJP's decade-long rule in Haryana, accusing it of depriving the state of prosperity and dreams.
In a Hindi post on X, Gandhi alleged that BJP policies have harmed Haryana's youth and economy. He claimed that schemes like Agniveer have dashed young people's hopes, while unemployment has affected families' happiness. Inflation has impacted women's independence, he added. Gandhi also criticised demonetisation and GST for hurting small traders' profits.
Gandhi pledged that a Congress-led government would create two lakh permanent jobs and ensure a drug-free Haryana. Other promises include free medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakh, Rs 2,000 monthly for women, and gas cylinders at Rs 500. The party also plans to provide a 100-yard plot for the poor and a two-room house costing Rs 3.5 lakh.
Additional Promises
The manifesto further promises to reinstate the old pension scheme and offer Rs 6,000 monthly pensions for seniors, widows, and disabled individuals. It also includes 300 units of free electricity, MSP guarantees for farmers, immediate crop loss compensation, a caste census, and raising the creamy layer limit to Rs 10 lakh. "From savings to health, protection of rights to social security, flourishing employment, happiness of every family - this is the Congress guarantee!" Gandhi declared.
Haryana's assembly elections are scheduled for October 5, with results announced on October 8. Gandhi highlighted unemployment as a critical issue during his campaign. He shared stories of young people from Haryana who risked dangerous routes to migrate to the US due to limited opportunities at home.
Gandhi questioned why young people prefer risky migration over starting businesses with loans. He also wondered why graduates apply for low-skilled jobs like sweepers and why families must choose between staying together or earning a living. These concerns reflect broader issues affecting India's youth today.
The Congress party aims to address these challenges through its proposed policies and initiatives if elected in Haryana's upcoming elections.
