Congress Charts Path for Lok Sabha Polls: Key Leaders Meet to Strategize

The Congress party held a series of meetings with leaders from Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Punjab to discuss strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Key topics included alliance formations, seat-sharing arrangements, and campaign plans.

The Congress high command held a series of crucial meetings with party leaders from Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Punjab on Tuesday, December 26, to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The meetings were attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary Organisation K C Venugopal, and other central leaders, who engaged in detailed discussions with the delegations from the respective states and Union Territories.

Bihar: United Alliance and Seat-Sharing Discussions

In Bihar, around 40 leaders of the Congress unit, including state chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh and newly appointed state in-charge Mohan Prakash, participated in the meeting. Addressing reporters afterward, Singh emphasized the unity of the RJD-JDU-Congress-Left alliance in facing the Lok Sabha polls together. He announced that a final decision on seat-sharing would be taken during the alliance committee meeting scheduled for December 29. Singh expressed flexibility in seat-sharing arrangements, acknowledging that adjustments might be necessary for the greater good of the alliance.

Sources revealed that Rahul Gandhi sought insights from the leaders on strengthening the party's presence in Bihar. In a post on social media, Kharge expressed his support for the Grand Alliance government in Bihar, highlighting its commitment to social justice and the well-being of the people. He emphasized the dedication of Congress workers in reaching out to the people and fulfilling their aspirations.

Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh: Aiming for Electoral Success

The Congress high command also held a meeting with leaders from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. With five Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir and one in Ladakh, the party discussed strategies for both the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and the assembly elections whenever they may be held. Rajani Patil Solanki, the Congress Jammu and Kashmir in-charge, exuded confidence in winning all five seats in Jammu and Kashmir and one in Ladakh.

Kharge expressed his hope for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, criticizing the Modi government for betraying the people of the region. He raised concerns about the clean chit given to China post-Galwan, which he believed endangered national security and strategic interests. The rise in terror attacks and targeted killings of innocent people in Jammu and Kashmir also drew his attention.

Additionally, Kharge highlighted the demand of the people of Ladakh for safeguards under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution for the tribal population. He criticized the Modi government for repeatedly deceiving the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, who yearn for normalcy in their lives, as conveyed to Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Punjab: Addressing Internal Matters and Electoral Strategy

The Congress high command engaged in discussions with leaders from Punjab, where some state leaders shared their views on the Aam Aadmi Party's inclusion in the opposition INDIA bloc. It was decided that the Congress central leadership would make the final call on this matter. Concerns were also raised regarding Navjot Singh Sidhu, and Rahul Gandhi made it clear that indiscipline in any form would not be tolerated.

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring informed reporters after the meeting that the focus was primarily on the strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He clarified that the leadership did not discuss alliances or seat-sharing during this particular meeting.

Conclusion: United Front and Renewed Vigor

The series of meetings held by the Congress high command with leaders from Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Punjab underscores the party's commitment to strengthening its position and formulating a robust strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. With an emphasis on unity, social justice, and addressing the concerns of the people, the Congress aims to emerge as a formidable force in the electoral arena.
