Congress Expels Digvijaya Singh's Brother Lakshman Singh Over Remarks Against Rahul Gandhi
The Congress party on Wednesday expelled Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh's brother, Lakshman Singh, from its primary membership for six years over remarks made against Rahul Gandhi.
In an official press release, the party stated that Singh had been removed from the Indian National Congress "with immediate effect" due to his involvement in anti-party activities.

"Congress president has expelled Laxman Singh, former MLA, Madhya Pradesh, from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress for a period of six years with immediate effect due to his anti-party activities," said Tariq Anwar, member secretary of the party's Disciplinary Action Committee, in a statement.
However, the party did not elaborate on the specific actions that led to his expulsion.
The move follows a recommendation by the All India Congress Committee's (AICC) disciplinary panel, which cited his "repeated public statements against the leadership" as damaging to the party's image.
Last month, Singh was issued a showcause notice after allegedly questioning how long the Congress would have to tolerate the "immaturity" of both Robert Vadra and Rahul Gandhi.
In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, he sparked internal controversy by stating, "Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra are immature."
In a tribute to those killed in the 24 April attack, Singh further said, "The country is suffering the consequences of their immaturity."
Lakshman Singh had earlier left the Congress to join the BJP in 2004, winning a Lok Sabha seat. He returned to the Congress in 2013.
