Congress dismisses book's claim about Sonia Gandhi desire to retire

SO
New Delhi, Oct 9: Congress on Wednesday sought to dismiss the claims in a book that Sonia Gandhi wants to retire from politics when she turns 70 in 2016.

"I have no idea . I have not read the report...... Gandhi has been a very effective and a farsighted leader. Nobody's prediction we have seen", party spokesman P C Chacko told reporters.

He was asked about the claim in a book "24 Akbar Road" that the party has been rattled by Sonia's desire to retire in 2016 and this is what has prompted the party to give a 'bigger role' to her son Rahul Gandhi.

Apparently, Rahul's aides cited two reasons why he should not take up any position in Uttar Pradesh.
