Congress Delegation Meets President over Manipur Issue, Seeks Probe By Inquiry Commission
A Congress delegation-led by Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to President Draupadi Murmu regarding the situation in Manipur.
The memorandum highlighted the violent clashes in the state over the past few weeks, saying that "the Union government must immediately take all possible measures to control and confine all militant groups (including those under SoO) and ensure that all armed civilian groups be stopped forthwith by taking appropriate action."

The Congress has put forth 12 demands, including setting up a high-level inquiry commission, headed by a serving or retired Supreme Court Judge.
It also demanded steps for rehabilitation of displaced persons, identification of those who have lost their lives or are missing, and the payment of dignified and reasonable compensation to all victims and affected persons.
This comes amid Union Home Minister Amit Shah's four-day visit to the state, where he will holding a series of meetings with stakeholders to take stock of the situation in Manipur.
"The letter and spirit of the existing Constitutional provisions related to the state of Manipur must be protected, and the trust between communities should be restored through reconciliation and dialogue," the Congress said.
The grand old party highlighted a trust deficit between the people and the administration and law enforcement agencies.
The party also pressed for an immediate redressal saying that without fixing this, it would be extremely difficult to bring back normalcy to the state.
"At this critical juncture, without resorting to blame games, there is serious deficit in the efforts of the state government to contain the arson and violence. If firm action were taken on the 3rd May evening to prevent the arson in the hill districts, the situations would not have deteriorated this badly," the memorandum read.
