Congress Claims X Issued Legal Notice To Party Over Amit Shah's 'Edited' Ambedkar Remark Video

The Congress alleged on Wednesday that some of its leaders received notices from the social media platform X for sharing video clips of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This follows accusations from the BJP that Congress had shared edited videos of Shah's Rajya Sabha speech about BR Ambedkar.

According to sources, the notices were issued to Congress handles at the request of the Union Home Ministry.

The controversy began when Congress shared a clip of Shah's speech on Tuesday, accusing him of insulting Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. The BJP launched a counter-offensive, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi stepping in to defend Shah.

In the video, Shah can be heard saying, "It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. If they had taken God's name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven in all seven lives."

Congress condemned this as an insult to Ambedkar.

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, accused the BJP of attempting to "erase Ambedkar's contribution and the Constitution, which the whole country knows."

He further alleged that the BJP intended to alter the Constitution and demanded an apology from Shah. Other Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi, voiced similar concerns, with additional support from other INDIA bloc parties.

The BJP and Amit Shah firmly rejected Congress's claims, accusing the party of manipulating the video. Shah remarked, "The BJP will examine all legal options. Whatever legal action can be taken inside and outside Parliament, all possibilities will be considered."

Shah further stated, "Congress used its old tricks and made an effort to mislead society by presenting twisted facts," adding that he came from a party that would never insult Ambedkar.

Prime Minister Modi also criticised Congress, accusing its "rotten ecosystem" of spreading "malicious lies" to conceal its misdeeds and claiming that Shah had exposed the opposition party's "dark history of insulting" Ambedkar.
