Congress Blames Guj Government Of Paying Excess Amount To Adani Power
The Congress Party on Saturday claimed that the Gujarat government which is afraid of getting exposed for misusing public money is seeking a return of an excessive payment of Rs 3900 crore from Adani Power Mundra Limited.

While addressing a press conference in Delhi, Gujarat Congress Chief Shaktisinh Gohil asserted, "This is corruption, irrefutable evidence of the crony capitalism that Rahul Gandhi has been talking about."
Gohil has also produced a letter written by the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) to Adani Power, Mundra, in which the State power utility has accepted making excess payment and asked the power supplier for recovery.
According to Gohil, the matter came to light after the Hindenburg report was exposed. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd had signed an agreement with the company that the energy charges to be paid to the Adani firm would be balanced with procurement price of coal from Indonesia. However, since Adani Power failed to provide invoices and documents of the price bidding of coal, the state government paid the company an excess amount without any verification.
And now being scared of getting exposed, the Gujarat government has written to the company to refund the excess amount of Rs 3900 crore as the power utility bill to be paid was Rs 9,902.
Gohil has now demanded a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and other agencies into the "massive scam," by the Gujarat government and defined this money-laundering case.
On the other hand, the Gujarat government has denied allegations by the Congress Party. "These allegations are misleading. The payments made to Adani Power were only interim and not final", Gujarat Government Spokesperson and Cabinet Minister Rushikesh Patel was quoted as saying.
