Congress, BJP slam AAP over water tariff hike
Bengaluru, Mar 20: Ridiculing AAP governments decision to hike water tarrifs, Congress leader Ajay Maken said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) party is going back on its promises after a month in government.
"The hike in the water tariff will affect lakhs of people. The new rates would be beyond the paying capacity of the poor," Maken said.

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Thursday, March 19, hiked the water tariff by 10 per cent about a month after it announced a free-water scheme for people in the national capital.
The new rates will become effective from next month.
Maken said the AAP government has betrayed the trust of Delhiites, by making u-turn in its electoral promises.
Satish Upadhyay, the Delhi BJP chief said that the Arvind Kejriwal government is just playing with people's sentiments ever since it came to power.
Adding that the water tariff hike is the confirmation BJP's stand on the party, he said "the Kejriwal government last week spoke of 20,000 litre free water to a limited section of billed consumers selling the dream of free water. And its today's proposal to raise water tariff by 10 per cent is a stab on people's back," he said.
Opposition said that hike in water tariffs was against the wishes of Delhiites, and they would protest against anti-people decisions by the AAP.
