Congress Announces Major Reshuffle, Avinash Pandey Replaces Priyanka Gandhi As UP In-charge

Implementing strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the Congress announced a major organization reshuffle on Saturday. Two days after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting, the grand old party appointed Sachin Pilot as General Secretary in charge of Chhattisgarh. The party also replaced Uttar Pradesh General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi with Avinash Pandey following its strategy for the upcoming general elections. According to the reports, relieved of the duty and may contest polls this time.

Senior leaders Mukul Vasnik will now head the Gujarat Congress, Randeep Singh Surjewala to look after Karnataka Congress and stalwart Jairam Ramesh has been named as in charge of communication, While KC Venugopal will continue to serve as the General Secretary in charge of the organization.

Congress Announces Major Reshuffle

According to the reports, the changes were decided at the AICC meeting attended by the Congress top brass to draw up strategies and review preparedness for the polls slated to be held approximately 100 days from now. "The CWC appreciates that preparations for the Lok Sabha polls have already commenced" and the "Congress President has been conducting state-wise reviews which are giving direction to the preparations," Congress said in a statement after the All India Congress Committee's (AICC) December 21 meeting.

Assigning duties to the heavyweights, 12 General Secretaries, and 11 state in-charges were named by the Congress today.

GS Mir will take charge of Jharkhand and additionally of the West Bengal. Deepa Dasmunshi is to head Kerala and Lakshadweep, while an additional duty of Telangana also has been assigned to him. Maharashtra to be managed by Ramesh Chennithala, Bihar by Mohan Prakash, and Dr. Chellakumar to take charge of Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh have been given to Rajeev Shukla and Punjab will be managed by Devender Yadav.

Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry will be overseen by Dr. Ajoy Kumar. Jammu and Kashmir by Bharat Singh Solanki and Rajasthan will headed by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
