Congress Alleges Large-Scale Voter Fraud in Rajura, Maharashtra, Threatens Legal Action

The Congress party in Maharashtra has accused the BJP of large-scale voter fraud in Rajura. They warn of legal action if investigations into bogus registrations are not initiated within a month.

The Congress party in Maharashtra has accused the BJP of large-scale voter fraud in the Rajura assembly constituency, similar to the Mahadevapura case in Karnataka. They have threatened to take legal action if no steps are taken within a month. The BJP dismissed these claims as unfounded, suggesting they are an attempt by Congress to hide its own shortcomings.

State Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe highlighted that despite an FIR being filed nearly 11 months ago, no investigation has been conducted into the alleged fake online voter registrations in Rajura. He stated that between October 1 and October 15, 2024, a total of 11,667 fraudulent voters were registered online. Following a complaint by Congress candidate Subhash Dhote, 6,853 names were removed.

Allegations of Election Irregularities

Londhe also claimed that the BJP's candidate in Rajura was found with Rs 61 lakh in cash and election materials by the Election Commission's flying squad. A case was registered at Gadchandur police station, but no further action has been taken. He accused the BJP of colluding with the Election Commission to facilitate voter fraud, drawing parallels with irregularities recently highlighted by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Mahadevapura.

Despite repeated appeals to the Election Commission, district collector, and superintendent of police by their candidate, there has been no progress. Londhe warned that if no action is taken within a month, Congress will approach the courts. Chandrapur District Congress Committee president and former MLA Subhash Dhote, who lost in the 2024 assembly polls to the BJP by over 2,000 votes, was present at the press conference.

BJP's Response to Fraud Allegations

Maharashtra BJP media chief Navnath Ban responded to these allegations by dismissing them as baseless. He stated that the people of Rajura and Maharashtra have rejected Congress and placed their trust in the BJP candidate. According to Ban, this is causing distress for Congress, leading them to make false allegations daily to create confusion.

Ban described the complaint as a political stunt lacking concrete evidence. He argued that Congress's daily release of new figures and claims is merely an attempt to capture media attention. Elections in Maharashtra were conducted transparently and legally with public trust. Ban asserted that accusations of vote theft are deceptive political tactics meant to cover up Congress's failures.

The ongoing dispute between Congress and BJP over voter fraud allegations highlights tensions in Maharashtra's political landscape. Both parties continue to exchange accusations as they vie for public support and credibility ahead of future elections.
