Congress Eyes Telangana-Style Victory in Goa, Says New AICC In-Charge Manikrao Thakre
Manikrao Thakre, the newly appointed AICC in-charge of Goa, expressed confidence in replicating the Congresss recent electoral triumph in Telangana in the coastal state. Thakre, who played a crucial role in the Congresss Telangana victory, emphasized the importance of hard work and dedication by party members in achieving success.
Panaji, January 10: Manikrao Thakre, the newly appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Goa, expressed confidence in replicating the Congress' recent electoral success in Telangana in the coastal state, which is currently governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Thakre's Experience in Telangana
Thakre, who previously served as the AICC in-charge of Telangana, played a pivotal role in the Congress' victory in the state's assembly polls last month. Drawing from his successful experience in Telangana, Thakre believes that hard work and dedication by party workers and leaders are key to electoral success. He intends to bring his Telangana experience to Goa and assist local leaders in achieving electoral victories.
Building Unity for Lok Sabha Elections
Recognizing the importance of unity within the party, Thakre emphasized the need for the Congress to come together and fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Goa. The state has two parliamentary seats, and the Congress aims to strengthen its position in the coastal region.
Meeting Party Cadres and Addressing Concerns
During his maiden visit to Goa after assuming his new role, Thakre held a series of meetings with party office-bearers and cadres. He expressed his commitment to meeting every cadre and leader in the state, acknowledging that it may take time but emphasizing the importance of personal interactions. Thakre also addressed concerns within the party, urging workers and leaders to work in tandem and avoid making statements against the party.
Acknowledging Past Mistakes and Future Potential
Thakre acknowledged past mistakes made by the Congress in Goa, including the defection of eight Congress MLAs to the BJP in 2022. However, he remains optimistic about the party's strength and potential to win elections. He believes that the Congress has capable cadres and leaders in Goa and that the party is well-positioned to approach every household in the state to highlight the failures of the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state.
Manikrao Thakre's appointment as the AICC in-charge of Goa brings renewed hope and optimism to the Congress party in the state. His successful experience in Telangana serves as a source of inspiration, and his emphasis on unity, hard work, and addressing internal concerns positions the Congress for potential electoral success in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and beyond.
