Confirmed: DMDK-BJP form alliance in Tamil Nadu for LS polls
According to a report, Vijayakanth's brother-in-law L K Sudheesh met an emissary of Narendra Modi on Monday at a Chennai hotel and conveyed that his leader has agreed to an alliance.
The BJP is also trying to rope in PMK as another ally for a stronger alliance.
Sources told TOI that DMDK is in talks with BJP over alliance and later they will finalise about seat-sharing issue, candidates and constituencies.
Interestingly, source also refuted speculations that DMDK may form an alliance with Congress and DMK.
A senior BJP leader said that the party has agreed to give 12 seats to DMDK, who was earlier asking for 14 seats.
The BJP, who is also trying to rope in PMK as an another ally, is likely to announce its first list of candidates by February end.
A PMK candidate reportedly said that it has urged BJP to allot 14 seats to Social Democratic Alliance (SDA).
However, there is a 'bone of contention' between the BJP and PMK over few constituencies. BJP has asked them to make some adjustments, so that a stronger alliance can be formed.
Last month, BJP managed to convince Vaiko-led MDMK to form an alliance in Tamil Nadu.
