Railways to raise added revenue of Rs 8k crore through fare hike

New Delhi, June 21:The decision to raise the

passenger

by 14.2% and freight fare by 6.5% may have drawn the ire of various political leaders, but on the hind side, the world's third largest rail network will be raising an additional revenue of Rs 8,000 crore in the financial year.

In his campaign trail, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that if he comes to power, he may have to take tough decisions to bring the economy back to track.

And people support him, this time too. People are willing to spare a few more thousands to get added benefits and betterment of the railways. Some of the dignitaries in the media also defended the government.
